DWU men’s soccer ends season on high note

Joel Sanchez scored the match’s only goal, sending the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team past Concordia (Neb.), 1-0, in Great Plains Athletic Conference action on Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.

Tyler Anderson, who had one of DWU’s 12 shots, assisted on the goal. The Tigers finished with a 12-6 shot advantage after an evenly-played first half. DWU held Concordia to one second-half shot.

Matthew Campbell earned a clean sheet in the final match of the season, as he saved one shot.

DWU concludes the season 3-10-3 and 2-8-1 in GPAC play.

DWU women allow four goals in loss

The Dakota Wesleyan University women’s soccer team struggled to contain Concordia (Neb.) in its season finale, dropping the Great Plains Athletic Conference match 4-1 on Saturday.


Down 2-0 in the second half, Josephine Bardsley scored an unassisted goal for DWU’s only score at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex. She finished with a team-high four shots, including two on goal. Jocelyn Behm also had two shots on goal, but DWU was out-shot 17-12.

Alissa Betz saved six of 10 shots in the loss.

DWU wraps up the season 5-10-1 overall and 2-9-1 in conference action.
