The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team scored two goals in the second half, but it wasn’t enough in a 3-2 loss to Briar Cliff (Iowa) on Sunday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
Briar Cliff led 2-0 at halftime, but Ndrin Maloku scored at the 52 minute, 36 second mark for the Tigers. After the Chargers made it 3-1, Omar Menchaca-Torres cut the deficit to one, as Maloku assisted on the goal. DWU failed to find the equalizer.
Briar Cliff owned a 20-12 advantage in shots (10-4 in shots on goal) and 6-1 in corner kicks. Matthew Campbell saved seven shots for the Tigers.
DWU (0-1) plays Viterbo University (Wisc.) at 3 p.m. Thursday in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
