CRETE, Neb.-Ty Hoglund, Jason Spicer and Trae Vandeberg each scored 20 or more points as No. 19 Dakota Wesleyan University cruised to a 94-64 men's basketball victory over Doane University on Saturday in Crete, Nebraska. The Tigers improve to 17-7 overall and 7-5 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
Hoglund tallied 27 points on 9-for-15 shooting from the field, including 4-for-9 from beyond the arc. Hoglund also added six rebounds and three steals. Spicer recorded 22 points, six rebounds and six assists. Vandeberg notched 20 points and four assists. Vandeberg nailed three 3-pointers.
Spicer's 3-pointer gave DWU a 43-28 halftime lead. Hoglund scored 10 of DWU's first 12 points to start the second half as the lead ballooned to 20 points. The Tigers coasted from there, building their lead to as many 36 points down the stretch.
Collin Kramer and Kellen Barden each scored nine points apiece for DWU, which shot 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range. The Tigers scored 20 points off 18 Doane turnovers.
DWU sits in fourth place in the GPAC standings. Briar Cliff and Morningside College are tied atop the standings with 9-2 records. Northwestern College is third with a 7-4 league mark.
