Waldorf (Iowa) held the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team in check on Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex, shutting out the Tigers, 2-0.

Waldorf had to work around two red cards to notch the win. It also was held scoreless until Athos Monteiro scored late in the first half, followed by Osman Toro netting the team’s second goal in the 58th minute.

DWU goalie Matthew Campbell saved five of seven shots in the loss, though the Tigers were out-shot, 12-9. Despite being out-shot, the Tigers still managed to put four shots on goal. Raul Guillamon-Bejar stopped all four shots, though, which included a team-high two shots by Angel Tapia. Jason Jattan and Omar Menchaca-Torres each had one.

DWU (0-1) plays Bethany (Kan.) at 8 p.m. Friday in Lindsborg, Kansas.
