DWU men blanked by Concordia after falling into early hole

SEWARD, Neb. -- An own goal put the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team in an early hole against Concordia (Neb.) and could not recover on Saturday.

DWU allowed an own goal 5 minutes, 37 seconds in the match and Garrett Perry gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead at the 50:51 mark to hand the Tigers a 2-0 loss in Great Plains Athletic Conference action out there.

Offensively, DWU (2-3, 1-2 GPAC) mustered one shot on goal, while goalkeeper Matthew Campbell stopped five of seven shots sent in his direction by Concordia (5-1, 3-0). The Tigers were also assessed five yellow cards, while Ndrin Maloku was given a red card.

DWU hosts Northwestern (Iowa) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
