DWU basketball teams both picked 2nd in GPAC polls

The Dakota Wesleyan University basketball teams were both picked to finish second in their respective Great Plains Athletic Conference preseason coaches polls.

The Dakota Wesleyan University basketball teams were both picked to finish second in their respective Great Plains Athletic Conference preseason coaches polls.

The DWU men tallied 73 total points and two first-place votes, while Northwestern College was tabbed the preseason favorite with 78 total points and seven first-place votes. Rounding out the top-5 were Briar Cliff University in third, Morningside College in fourth and Midland University in fifth.

The Tiger women received 90 total points and one first place vote, while Concordia University was tabbed the preseason favorite with 100 total points and 10 first-place votes. Rounding out the top-5 was Morningside College in third, Northwestern College in fourth and Hastings College in fifth.

The DWU men open the season against Sisseton Wahpeton College at 8 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Corn Palace.

The DWU women open the season against the University of Jamestown at 6 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the Corn Palace.
