The Dakota Wesleyan University women’s soccer team appeared on its way to a win in its Great Plains Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday.
Josephine Bardsley scored less than a minute into the second half and Alondra Partida tacked on another to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead, but it did not last as Dordt scored three unanswered goals for a 4-3 win at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex.
The Defenders roared back, however, scoring three goals in the final 29 minutes, including the game-winner with 10 minutes left.
Bardsley had two goals in the game for DWU (3-2, 0-1 GPAC) and Partida had a goal and an assist. Hannah Bowes had seven saves in goal.
The Tigers face Morningside at 5 p.m. on Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa.
