Doane scores two unanswered goals to top DWU

The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team dropped its third straight contest on Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex. Doane (Neb.) used two first-half goals to defeat the Tigers, 3-1, in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.

After Markus Pieper scored the first of his two goals, DWU’s Lucas Bule tied the game in the first half. DWU didn’t score the rest of the game. Pieper scored again and Camilo Porto added a second-half goal for Doane.

DWU’s Matthew Campbell saved six shots in goal, as Doane held a 9-6 advantage in shots on goal.

DWU (2-5, 1-4 GPAC) play Mount Marty at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Yankton.
