TOPEKA, Kan. -Dakota Wesleyan University wrestler Trever DeVestern dropped a quarterfinal match to Taylor Hodel, of Dickinson State University (North Dakota), 13-2, but rallied in the quarterfinal wrestlebacks to guarantee a spot on the awards stand on Friday in Topeka, Kansas.

The redshirt senior went 3-1 on Friday and added to his DWU record 119 wins.

In the consolation bracket, DeVestern earned a 7-4 win over Midland's Aaron Lopez.

Devestern will take on No. 6 ranked Sean Black, of Campbellsville (Kentucky), in his next match today.

DWU senior Jade Hoisington made his debut at the NAIA championships in the heavyweight bracket and dropped two matches to be eliminated from the tournament.
