Dell Rapids stays undefeated in Class B state Legion

REDFIELD--Dell Rapids heads to the Class B Legion baseball state tournament semifinals undefeated after beating Spearfish, 6-3, on Sunday. Dell Rapids will take on Dakota Valley, and Spearfish faces off with McCook/Miner today.

REDFIELD-Dell Rapids heads to the Class B Legion baseball state tournament semifinals undefeated after beating Spearfish, 6-3, on Sunday. Dell Rapids will take on Dakota Valley, and Spearfish faces off with McCook/Miner today.

Josh Roemen went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for Dell Rapids, helping it outhit Spearfish 15-5. Elijah Story also had three hits, while Jay Holm, Eddie Price, Matt Gillogly and Jake Rechtenbaugh all had two hits. Gillogly also earned the win, tossing six innings of one-run baseball.

For Spearfish, Taylor Janovy and Cody Garness both had a pair of hits. Janovy suffered the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) and 11 hits over four innings. He also struck out four.

Dakota Valley 3, Redfield 2

REDFIELD-Dakota Valley outhit Redfield 10-4 on Saturday during a Class B Legion baseball state tournament game.

For Dakota Valley, Jack Graves, Jevin Kratz and Tanner Hensley all had two hits, while Graves, Hensley and Austin Carter each drove in a run. Tanner Bykerk struck out nine and gave up two runs (one earned) in a complete-game effort.

Peyton Osborn and Barrett Wren both had a hit and RBI for Redfield. On the mound, Bennett Osborn tossed a complete game, allowing three earned runs on 10 hits.

Spearfish 10, Big Stone City 7

REDFIELD-Spearfish scored two runs in five different innings to top Big Stone City in the Class B Legion baseball state tournament.

Taylor Janovy went 3-for-3 with a RBI for Spearfish, and Zach Kozel finished 3-for-3 with five RBIs. Drew Gusso started and earned the win, allowing five runs (one earned) in a five-inning start.

Peter Treinen led Big Stone City with three hits and two RBIs, while Nathan Strong and Elijah Cloos both had a pair of hits. Treinen suffered the loss as he allowed six earned runs in 3 1/3 innings.
