Defense guides Jaguars past MCS boys

Corsica-Stickney rode a strong defensive effort to a win over the Mitchell Christian boys basketball team on Tuesday, 57-24.

The Jaguars held Mitchell Christian to nine points in the first half, owning a 39-9 lead at the break. Corsica-Stickney owned an 18-15 advantage in the second half, too.

Jaylen Kemp scored all 22 of his points in the first three quarters for the Jaguars, including four 3-pointers. Cooper DeLange also added 11 points and Brendan Wentland scored six in the win.

Mitchell Christian shot 37 percent from the field. Ty Vander Pol recorded 10 points, five rebounds and three assists. Max Reynen added five points and three boards.

Corsica-Stickney (5-1) plays Kimball/White Lake on Friday in Corsica. Mitchell Christian (0-9) hosts Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Thursday.
