SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Dordt College locked down the Dakota Wesleyan University offense for much of the doubleheader between the two teams Monday, earning a sweep 4-2 and 3-0.
In the opener, DWU had five hits, led by a pair from Tramane Moore. Jerrod Zens had a lead-off home run to right field to open the game but the Defenders' kept DWU in check. Tiger starter Steven Sagasty threw a complete game, allowing seven hits in six innings and three earned runs.
In the second game, the Tigers were kept to just three hits by Dordt's Brandon Fokkema. Tyler Waddle, Zach Uttecht and Reed Harter had the lone hits. Steven Somerville took the loss for DWU, allowing seven hits and three earned runs.
The Tigers (16-26, 11-13 GPAC) play the University of Jamestown in Redfield on Wednesday.
