PARK CITY, Kan. -- Dakota Wesleyan University’s Marcus Urban secured All-American honors at the NAIA wrestling tournament on Saturday.
The 165-pounder from Plankinton recorded a seventh-place finish with a medical forfeit win over Grand View’s Kyle Caldwell. The top-eight finishers in each weight class earn All-American status.
Caldwell defeated Urban, 5-2, earlier in the tournament. Urban rattled off three straight wins -- two decisions and one pin -- in the consolation bracket. He also defeated conference foe Chris Paulsen, of Briar Cliff, during the three-match winning streak. Urban dropped a 6-1 decision against Campbellsville’s Gavin Smith before his seventh-place match.
DWU freshman Darien Malone dropped a pair of matches in his first trip to nationals.
