PLATTE — Winner’s Kade Watson claimed the top time in the Platte-Geddes Invitational boys varsity race on Saturday at Lake Platte Golf Course.

Watson finished the 5K race in 17 minutes, 33.58 seconds, which was nearly a full minute better than second place finisher and teammate, Joseph Laprath (18:25.38). Gregory’s Luke Sinclair (18:54.22), Freeman Academy/Marion’s Tavin Schroeder (18:58.18) and Burke’s Fin Adams (19:01.36) rounded out the top five.

Mitchell Christian had top-15 individual finishers in Silas Holdeman (19:51.83, ninth place), Nahum Anderberg (20:18.27, 12th) and Liam Pospisil (20:35.47, 15th). Mitchell Christian finished third in the team standings behind Winner and Freeman Academy/Marion.

In the girls varsity race, Jada Koerner of Freeman Academy/Marion took the individual title with a time of 20:47.77. Gregory had the second and fourth place finishers in Emma Thomas and Asia VanDerWerff, who recorded times of 20:58.28 and 22:16.41, respectively. Hanson’s Taziah Hawkins took third place in 21:42.33.

Hanson finished top of the team standings, as Cadence Jarding (ninth place), Eliza Oltmanns (10th), Reese Marek (13th) and Alyssa Moschell (16th) all joined Hawkins in the top half of the field.

In subvarsity races, Mitchell Christian's Luke Mentele won the 4K boys race, leading Mitchell Chirstian finished first as a team along with teammates Hunter Patton, Paul Kleinsasser and Aiden Lessman.

Nora Robb, of Scotland, won the girls 4K race with a time of 19:08.88. Platte-Geddes’ Charly Veurink took second place in 19:14.20, as P-G finished first as a team. Hannah DeLine was Mitchell Christian's top finisher, taking 17th in 22:17.83.

In the 3K middle school races, P-G’s Walter Graesser, Isaac Leader and Jameson Leader swept the top three positions on the boys side. The top area finisher in the girls race was P-G’s Berklee Mills, who finished second.
