COLMAN -- Mount Vernon/Plankinton had a top-10 finisher in both the boys and girls cross-country races at the Colman-Egan Invitational on Wednesday at Sunrise Ridge Golf Course.

Colman-Egan earned a home title on the girls side, edging second-place Howard. MVP finished in fourth place. On the boys side, Baltic ran past the competition. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket finished in fourth and MVP claimed sixth place.

On the girls side, Deubrook Area’s Ellie Olsen (20:25.78) won the race by over one minute. Howard’s Emma Neises (21:31.34) finished in second by five seconds over MVP’s Suri Schmidt, who finished in 21 minutes, 36.80 seconds.

SCW’s Hannah Terkildsen (23:02.01) took 13th place, followed by MVP’s Kyia Schmidt (23:13.30) and Howard’s Hailey Kizer (23:22.79) rounding out the top 15.

For the boys, Dell Rapids’ Jacob Vogel raced to a time of 17:27.58 and a first-place finish. MVP’s Logan Tlam (19:03.12) notched eighth place and SCW’s Jeff Boschee earned ninth in 19:06.93. SCW had another top-15 finisher in Braxton Gentles (19:52.40), who claimed 14th.
