Crofton takes down Harrisburg behind Donner’s strong outing

Crofton (Neb.) advanced to the second round of the amateur baseball tournament with a win over Harrisburg on Thursday.

Scot Donner came ready to play in Crofton’s first round game of the Class B state amateur baseball tournament.

Not only did Donner have a strong outing on the mound, but he delivered at the plate in the Bluejays’ (Nebraska) 5-1 win over Harrisburg on Thursday at Cadwell Park.

Donner did not allow an earned run in nine innings, giving up seven hits and a walk, striking out three batters in the process. He also drove in a run on a triple in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Jared Wiebelhaus started the scoring with a two-run single in the bottom of the first, while Tyler Zimmerman added an RBI and Nick Hegge had two hits.

Dalton Allen took the loss for the Woodies, giving up one earned run (four unearned) on three hits and three walks in four innings. Allen struck out five, while Tanner Brown fanned seven in four shutout innings of relief.


Crofton faces Plankinton in the second round at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.
