Cougars cruise in home golf meet

With the top four finishers in the girls field, the Burke/South Central golf team cruised to a home victory at the Burke/South Central-Gregory Golf Tournament Friday.

With the top four finishers in the girls field, the Burke/South Central golf team cruised to a home victory at the Burke/South Central-Gregory Golf Tournament Friday.

The girls tournament was played in Burke, while the boys rounds were played in Gregory, with golfers playing 18 holes.

Taylee Indahl led the way for the Cougars with a round of 88 and pacing the team to a 276 score. Tressa Bull was second (91), Haley Benter was third (97) and Brecken Bartling (98) was fourth for the Cougars. Wagner's Cailtyn Stimpson rounded out the top five with a 99.

In the boys competition, Bon Homme's Alec Johnson led the Cavaliers to a team victory. Johnson shot a 1-over-par 73 to win the individual competition by six strokes. Bon Homme edged out Platte-Geddes by eight strokes, 243 to 251 in the team scoring. Gregory was third with 257 and Kimball/White Lake took fourth with 259.

The Gorillas placed two golfers in the top five, with J.J. Beck taking second with a 79 and Jon Bakke was fourth with an 80. Corsica-Stickney's Kyle Menning took third with a round of 80 and Bon Homme's Cole Uecker rounded out the top-five with a round of 81.
