MITCHELL — The rosters for the all-Great Plains Athletic Conference teams were announced on Wednesday, May 11, and Dakota Wesleyan's top hitter received recognition for his stellar final season.

Matt Bezdicek, a fifth-year grad-transfer from Southwest Minnesota State, was named to the All-GPAC second team as a first baseman after leading the team in a number of offensive categories, including batting average (.372), on-base percentage (.492) and slugging percentage (.648). He also had the most hits (54), home runs (7) and tied for the most RBI (30).

Bezdicek led the Tigers on the mound this season as well, finishing the season with the most innings pitched (54.2) and strikeouts (54) while his 4.94 earned-run average was the best of Tigers’ pitchers with at least 10 innings pitched.

Three DWU players were among the All-GPAC honorable mentions, with catcher Wyatt Hunt and outfielders Cameron Quigley and Carter Gullickson all among that list.

DWU wrapped up its season on Friday, April 29, overcoming the Jamestown Jimmies 7-6 in seven innings to finish with a 15-28 overall record and an 8-19 record in the Great Plains Athletic Conference to finish ninth overall, narrowly missing out on the eight-team GPAC tournament.
