BROOKINGS, S.D. — In a contest that featured teams on the extremes of the Summit League standings, the South Dakota State men’s basketball team downed the University of St. Thomas (Minn.), 79-60, on Saturday afternoon at Frost Arena.
SDSU set the Summit League record for the best start and clinched the regular-season conference title on Thursday with a win over Western Illinois, but added to the streak against St. Thomas, dropping the Tommies to their 12th-straight defeat while the Jackrabbits picked up their 16th-straight win, all in conference play.

The Jackrabbits’ Baylor Scheierman chased a triple-double with 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, as Douglas Wilson put up 16 points, eight rebounds and one steal. Charlie Easley chipped in 12 points and four rebounds and Matt Dentlinger added 10 points off the bench.
Riley Miller kept the Tommies in it with 27 points, tossing in eight 3-pointers in the loss. Parker Bjorklund grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, while Anders Nelson contributed eight points for St. Thomas (8-19, 2-13 Summit).
The Jackrabbits (25-4, 16-0 Summit) are on the road to clash with Oral Roberts on Thursday, Feb. 24.
