SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Ethan native Karly Gustafson, who plays basketball at Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference’s female nominee for the NAIA Emil S. Liston Award.

The Emil S. Liston Award is given out to one junior NAIA men’s and women’s basketball player who has shown high athletic and scholastic achievement.

Gustafson has been named all-conference three times in her career at Dordt and was the 2022 NAIA national tournament Hustle Award winner in the Defenders' national runner-up effort in 2022. She currently boasts a 3.7 GPA and majors in social work.

"Karly is simply one of the most driven individuals I have been around," Dordt women's basketball coach Bill Harmsen said. "She has certainly felt the highs and lows of being part of a team. Her competitive fire is balanced with a sincere desire to lead her teammates with compassion."
