CORSICA, S.D. — Dimock/Emery’s Jason Schmidt struck out eight Mount Vernon batters over six and two thirds innings en route to a 6-2 victory Thursday night in Mount Vernon.

Dimock/Emery opened up the scoring in the top of the third when Peyton Nash collected a two-RBI single. The Raptors tacked on two more runs in the top half of the inning and then another in the top of the fourth.

After Dimock/Emery scored again in the top of the sixth to take a 6-0 lead, the Mustangs threatened in the bottom of the seventh. They brought two runs in the inning but left two runners in scoring position.

Phil Johnson hurled two and third innings of shutout ball in relief for the Raptors, striking out four. For the Mustangs, Luke Tiesler took the loss after giving up six runs in seven innings but only one was earned before Kade Bialas came in for two hitless innings of relief.

Tiesler went 2-for-3 at the plate for the Mustangs in the loss, while Gene Kitchens went 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored for the Raptors.
