MITCHELL — Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball is ranked No. 15 in the NAIA preseason coaches' top-25 rankings, it was announced Wednesday.

It is the first time in school history that DWU has been ranked in the preseason. Seven Great Plains Athletic Conference schools are ranked in the preseason, along with No. 2 Jamestown, No. 5 Midland, No. 8 Northwestern, No. 11 Concordia, No. 18 Saint Mary, and No. 24 Dordt, with Doane receiving votes. Missouri Baptist, the defending national champions, is ranked No. 1 in the country.

DWU was 25-10 in 2021 and finished the season ranked No. 14 in the country after advancing out of the opening round of the NAIA tournament and reaching the final 24 in Sioux City, Iowa, where they went 1-1 in pool play. It was DWU's first appearance in an NAIA tournament since 1990 and the first tournament win in school history.

DWU opens the season on Aug. 18 in a four-match tournament in West Palm Beach, Florida, hosted by Keiser University. The Tigers open the home schedule on Sept. 9 against Briar Cliff.
