CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Mitchell native and freshman point guard Macy Miller scored a career-high 25 points to lead the South Dakota State University women's basketball team past Northern Iowa 74-60 on Monday.
Miller shot 9-of-12 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. SDSU also got help from Megan Waytashek with 19 points and former Mitchell Kernel and sophomore Kerri Young with seven points and six rebounds. The Jackrabbits (9-4) shot 46 percent from the field, 42 percent from long range and 83 percent from the line. UNI (4-7) was led by Madison Weekly with 22 points and four rebounds. SDSU used an 11-7 run in the final five minutes of the second half to pull away to win its final nonconference game of the season. SDSU head coach Aaron Johnston earned his 350th career win and Waytashek moved into 27th on SDSU's 1,000-point club list with 1,141 points. The Jackrabbits open their eighth season of Summit League play when they host Denver at 7 p.m. Friday in Frost Arena. Chattanooga 67, South Dakota 54 SAN ANTONIO -- Chattanooga snapped the University of South Dakota women's basketball team's eight-game win streak Monday with a 67-54 win. The game was part of the UTSA Holiday Classic in San Antonio. Margaret McCloud led the Coyotes (10-3) with 13 points and Lisa Loeffler added eight points and eight rebounds. USD outrebounded the Mocs (11-3) 33-27. Chattanooga was led by Chelsey Shumpert with 21 points.
