Cheeseman, Osthus named to all-tournament team

The Dakota Wesleyan University women's basketball team had a pair of players named to the all-tournament team after reaching the NAIA Division II national semifinals for a second straight season.

The Dakota Wesleyan University women's basketball team had a pair of players named to the all-tournament team after reaching the NAIA Division II national semifinals for a second straight season.

Alexandria native Kynedi Cheeseman was named to the first team, while Rylie Osthus made the second team and also was given the Hustle Award. Northwestern's Darbi Gustafson joined Osthus on the second team as the Ethan native helped the Red Raiders reach the semifinals, too.

Cheeseman and Sarah Carr were both named an honorable mention All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. They helped the Tigers finish 31-6 this season.

Cheeseman led the team in scoring (19 ppg) on 47.6 percent shooting from the field and 41.4 percent from beyond the arc. She also added 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.

Carr had a breakout junior season, finishing second on the team and fourth in the Great Plains Athletic Conference with 17.1 points per contest. She also pulled down 6.1 boards per game.
