Alexandria native Kynedi Cheeseman and Sarah Carr continue to make their mark on the Dakota Wesleyan University women’s basketball team’s record books.
In Wednesday’s 82-56 win over No. 12 Northwestern (Iowa), both seniors moved up a spot on DWU’s all-time scoring list. Carr scored a team-high 26 points for the No. 14 Tigers, while Cheeseman added 21 points.
Cheeseman moved into second place with 1,857 career points, passing Ronda Morgan (1,843). Carr moved past Robin Morgan (1,511) into ninth with 1,534 career points.
Randi Morgan sits atop the list with 2,557 career points. Meanwhile, when DWU hosts No. 6 Dordt at 6 p.m. Jan. 15, Carr likely will pass eighth-place Emily Janssen, who has 1,536 career points.
This season, Cheeseman is averaging 21.7 points per game, which is on pace to surpass Ronda Morgan’s school-record 20.1 points per contest in 2000-01. Carr averages 16.8 points per game.
