Former Mitchell Kernel standout Caitlin Way is picking up right where she left off early on in the 2014 indoor season. Way, now a redshirt senior for the Oklahoma State women’s track and field team, finished third overall in the women’s weight throw Jan. 18 at the Kansas State Wildcat Invitational in Manhattan, Kan., with a toss of 16.76 meters.
OSU travels to Fayetteville, Ark., Friday for the Razorback Invitational.
- Mitchell native Lindsey Lawrence, a sophomore for the Stevenson University (Baltimore, Md.) women’s ice hockey team, has appeared in four games thus far for the Mustangs, with seven shots on goal. Stevenson (6-12-1) returns to the ice Saturday to take on SUNY Oswego in non-conference action.

- Wessington Springs natives Mitch Kraft and Drew Kraft, along with Parkston graduate David Schoenfish, each finished in the top 20 of the men’s 5000-meter run Saturday at the Dave Little Alumni meet in Spearfish.
Mitch Kraft, a senior distance runner for Black Hills State University, won the event with a time of 15:11.93 while his brother, Drew, a senior for the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State, finished in fourth with a time of 15:30.01.
Schoenfish, a sophomore for the University of Sioux Falls, finished the 5,000 meters in 18:15.44, good enough for 20th overall.
- Christian Van Dyke, a Mitchell native and freshman runner at Dordt College, was a top 20 finisher in the men’s 1,000-meter run at the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolf Open at the University of Nebraska’s DeVaney Center Friday in Lincoln, Neb. Van Dyke finished 19th overall in the event with a time of 2:45.13.
Dordt competes again Saturday when it travels to Storm Lake, Iowa, for the Buena Vista Open.
