Catching up: Knight leads USF relay team to second-place finish

Mitchell native Kendra Knight helped the University of Sioux Falls' 4x400-meter women's relay team to a second-place finish at the Vance Butler Memorial Invitational Saturday at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.

Mitchell native Kendra Knight helped the University of Sioux Falls' 4x400-meter women's relay team to a second-place finish at the Vance Butler Memorial Invitational Saturday at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.

The relay team finished with a time of 4:01.88, which is the third fastest time on the USF top 10 charts.

Knight also finished 16th in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 12.96 and fourth in the 200-meter dash in 25.79.

  • Kendra Cersosimo, a Mitchell High School graduate, helped the Mount Marty College women's tennis team to a pair of wins Saturday in Owatonna, Minn.

The Lancers defeated University of Minnesota-Morris 6-3 and Bethany Lutheran College 5-4. Cersosimo went 1-1 in the No. 2 singles spot and 1-1 in doubles on the day. In her two wins, she beat Morris' Kayla Kraemer 6-4, 6-2 and teamed up with Vanessa Rockne, a Yankton native, to defeat Morris' No. 1 doubles team 8-4.
Mount Marty plays in a triangular against two Great Plains Athletic Conference teams Concordia University and Doane College Saturday in Fremont, Neb.

  • Traxton Priebe took fourth in the men's 400-meter hurdles for the South Dakota State University men's track and field team at the SDSU/USD Duals Saturday at Williams Field in Yankton.

The Chamberlain native finished in 58.64 seconds in the race and took fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.82.

  • Black Hills State University track and field athlete Mitch Kraft took third in the men's 1,500-meter run at the Loper Invite Saturday in Kearney, Neb.

The Wessington Springs native recorded a time of 4 minutes, 3.07 seconds for third. Kraft also took 12th in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.78.

  • The University of Sioux Falls women's golf team's Davee Johnson took 36th in the First Federal Invitational Tuesday in Branson, Mo.

The Burke native scored an 89 in Monday's opening round and a 90 in the second round for a total of 179. The Cougars took sixth place with a team total of 667. The tournament had nine teams total and Arkansas Tech won the women's side with a 638.
