Catching up: Greenway takes fourth in decathlon for SDSU

Cory Greenway, a senior for the South Dakota State University men's track and field team, finished fourth overall in the decathlon competition Sunday at the Wayne State Invite in Wayne, Neb.

Cory Greenway, a senior for the South Dakota State University men's track and field team, finished fourth overall in the decathlon competition Sunday at the Wayne State Invite in Wayne, Neb.

Greenway, a Mitchell native, completed the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 20.21 and threw a mark of 103' 8.00" in the discus. Greenway also competed in the pole vault where he recorded a height of 9'03.75" and ran the 1,500-meter of the decathlon in 5:22.02. He finished fourth overall with 4,941 points.

The Jackrabbits will be back in action again Saturday as they will travel to Yankton to compete in the SDSU/USD Duals, hosted by the University of South Dakota. The meet is at the Yankton High School.

- Shelby Assmus and Luke Leischner, members of the South Dakota State University track and field team, also competed in the Arkansas Spring Invitational. Assmus, a Stickney native and junior for the SDSU women, placed 13th in the shot put with a throw of 12.65m.

Leischner, a senior from Tripp, placed 13th in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.01 seconds.

The next meet for the Jackrabbits will be the SDSU/USD Duals Saturday at Yankton High School.

- Former Wagner Red Raider Jilanne Doom competed in the Arkansas Spring Invitational Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark., for the University of South Dakota women's track and field team. Doom, a sophomore, placed 23rd overall in the women's 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:49.38.

Ali Haines, a freshman for the Coyotes, also competed in the meet, placing 22nd in the long jump with a jump of 4.66m. Haines also competed in the triple jump but did not place.

USD will host the SDSU/USD Duals Saturday at Yankton High School.

- Mitchell graduates and Augustana freshmen Jason and Justin Greenway each recorded two top-five finishes for the Vikings men's track and field team Saturday at the Wayne State Invite in Wayne, Neb.

Justin Greenway, finished in third in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.09 seconds, just ahead of Jason Greenway who finished in fourth at 11.10. Jason Greenway finished in third in the 200-meters with a time of 22.54 seconds, while Justin finished the event in fifth with a time of 22.99 seconds.

Augustana will host the Vance Butler Invitational Saturday at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.
