IRENE-The Canistota boys and Howard girls claimed Cornbelt Conference cross-country meet titles on Wednesday.
The Canisota boys, with five runners in the top-10, claimed the team race with 10 points. Menno's Joseph Grassmid won the boys race in 18-minutes and 54.1 seconds.
Canistota's Tate Tieszen (19:23.6) and Trey Ortman (20:11.9) placed second and third, respectively. Tage Ortman placed fifth in 20:30.4 for the Hawks. Canistota's Connor Hutcheson (21:06.0) and Josiah Schroeder (21:23.7) finished eighth and 10th, respectively.
The Howard girls finished with 24 points and just edged Freeman by five points for the title. Canistota's Kara Roshone claimed the girls race in 21:40.8. Menno's Ashton Massey took third in 22:45.2.
Howard's Pressley Claussen (23:51.6), Saddie Palmquist (23:57.6) and Emma Neises (24:01.0) took seventh-through-ninth, respectively.
