The Mitchell High School boys tennis team placed second at the Eastern South Dakota Conference tournament Tuesday, winning the Flight 2 and Flight 6 singles championship, along with the Flight 2 doubles championship.
Josh Grosdidier and Luke Jerke captured singles titles at the Rapid City Invitational on Thursday while doubles partners Macon Larson/Tyler Loecker and Aidan Patrick/Drake Jerke captured doubles titles for the Kernels on Friday.
Coming off a fourth-place finish at state last year, Kernels head coach Pat Moller said the team has been motivated all summer and winter and coming into this season in a better spot than last year.
