Another young golfer grabbed a region golf tournament title Monday at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell.
Last week, Scotland's Maggie Fiscel, who is a seventh-grader, won the girls' Region 4B golf tournament.
Monday, Parkston's Sydney Bormann won the girls' Region 3A golf tournament with a score of 80, and she's only an eighth-grader. Parkston also took the team title with a score of 338. Parkston's Jordan Bormann was the runner-up with a score of 81 and Logan Wagner came in third place with a score of 86. Sydney Weber came in fifth place with a score of 91, and Taylor Bormann came in sixth place with a score of 92. For full results of the tournament, see Page B2.
The top 24 placers advanced to the state tournament and the top three teams advanced as well. Mobridge-Pollock placed second with a score of 383 and Wagner took third place with a score of 402.
"We have a great girls' golf team," Parkston girls' golf coach Eric Norden said about the win.

"They had a great day and it was just a good day to be out here to golf. We're starting to play to our abilities and it's nice to get the win. We are looking forward to state now."
Bormann said she wasn't intimidated golfing with older girls Monday, because she learns a lot from playing with them.
"Last year I golfed with some older girls, too, and it's kind of fun to watch them play," Bormann said.
"It feels good to win but I couldn't have done it without my teammates."
At the state tournament last year, Parkston took second place and Norden said the team is excited to have another shot at winning the title this season.
"We wanted to be one of the top teams in the state coming in and you know we're there," Norden said.
"If we golf our game, we've got a good shot at (the state title) and that's what we're after. We just have to wait and see what happens; there are some good teams out there."
Norden said the team has put in a lot of hard work and effort over the season, and that really pays off when at the end of the year.

"We spent a lot of time just kind of going over the basics and the girls work hard. They practice every day and it's the little things that make the big difference."
Bormann said she's also excited to be able to go to the state tournament again and she knows the team has what it takes to pull out a win.
"I'm excited. We hope to go out there and shoot some good scores and do our best."
