NEW HOLLAND -- Andes Central/Dakota Christian used a 25-point third quarter to knock off Mitchell Christian, 73-61, in boys basketball action on Thursday.

The Golden Eagles trailed just 34-28 at halftime, but were outscored 25-14 in the third frame as the Thunder pulled away for the win.

“The big thing we talked about tonight was on the defensive side of the ball,” Mitchell Christian coach Jesse Tolsma said. “We didn’t do a good enough of a job. We didn’t execute our gameplan like we wanted to.”

ACDC’s Xavier Hare powered the third-quarter run, scoring 15 of his game-high 27 points in the period. He added three total 3-pointers.

“He was steady throughout the game and had a really nice third quarter,” Tolsma said. “He came out strong for them and really gave them a shot in the arm in that third quarter with energy and scoring.”

Nathanael Anderberg led the Golden Eagles with 24 points.

“He was able to get to the rim with some ease and finish at the bucket and get some easy ones, which is always good,” Tolsma said. “He did a great job of staying aggressive.”

Aiden Lieber added 15 points, six assists and five steals. Max Reynen tossed in 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
