ABERDEEN -- For the second time this season, the Dakota Wesleyan University women’s basketball team capped a three-game winning streak by taking down Presentation College.

The No. 13 Tigers had their second largest victory of the year in the process, an 86-51 win over the Saints on Monday in non-conference action. DWU (7-2) took down Presentation by 40 points earlier this year.

Sarah Carr scored the team’s first nine points, helping DWU take a 16-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. It took control of all aspects of the game in the final three frames, though.

Led by Carr’s team-high 15 points and six rebounds, DWU shot 50.8 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Saints, 37-26. The Tigers also made nine 3s, though struggled to convert at the free-throw line by making just 9 of 18.

Still, DWU effectively got open off of screens and found easy looks in the paint, helping it own a 44-18 advantage in the paint.

Alexandria native Kynedi Cheeseman finished with 11 points and six rebounds after a slow start. Tripp native Matti Reiner, Plankinton native Makaela Karst and Kamryn Heinz all chipped in nine points on a combined 12-for-20 shooting.

The Tigers turned 21 takeaways into 24 points, as they scored at least 22 points in each of the final three quarters. They led 42-24 at the break.

However, partly due to Kaylee Kirk’s team-best five steals and Karst’s four, Presentation was held to 22 points combined in the middle quarters. The Saints shot just 33.3 percent and didn’t have any scoring contributions from their bench.

Tone’ Oglesby scored a game-high 17 points, though needed 13 shots. Former Hanson High School standout Jada Campbell was held to 3-for-9 shooting during her nine-point, eight-rebound performance. Allison Cox, a former Winner standout, added eight points and two blocks.

DWU hosts Mount Marty at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Corn Palace.
