Area basketball roundup: MCM girls pull past Parker
SALEM—McCook Central/Montrose rolled over Parker 55-32 in girls Region 5A play on Thursday to advance to the SoDak 16 on Monday.
McCook Central/Montrose (17-4): Madisen Koepsell dropped 19 points and eight rebounds in the Fighting Cougars win, while Abigail Van Ruler put up a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Jacy Pulse tossed in eight points. McKenna Kranz notched seven points and eight rebounds, while Morgan Erickson tallied seven points and seven rebounds in the win. MCM will play in the SoDak 16 on Monday.
Parker: Raelin Jurgens led Parker with 16 points and seven rebounds in the loss. The Pheasants finish the season 9-13.

PLANKINTON—Mount Vernon/Plankinton routed Parkston in Region 5A semifinal action Thursday to advance to Monday's SoDak 16.
Mount Vernon/Plankinton (16-6): Katlyn Briggs notched 18 points in the win, while Emilee Fox totaled 12 points, six steals and five assists. Hailey Walz scored eight points in the win. MVP will play in the SoDak 16 on Monday.
Parkston: Emma Yost tallied 10 points for the Trojans, while Ellie Weidenbach finished with nine points. Parkston finishes the season 11-11.

Winner (20-0): Morgan Hammerbeck finished with 18 points and five rebounds in the win. Gabriel Kocer grabbed a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Kalla Bertram notched 10 points and seven boards. The Warriors play in the SoDak 16 Monday.
Red Cloud: Maya Franks and Kianna Big Crow dropped 14 points apiece in the loss, while Stevi Fallis totaled 11 points and Sharissa Haas finished with nine. The Crusaders finish the season 14-8.
