Mitchell Christian boys fall to Wolsey-Wessington

WOLSEY—The Mitchell Christian boys basketball team couldn't generate much offense on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles dropped a 46-33 decision against Wolsey-Wessington on Thursday.

Mitchell Christian (8-8) hung right with the Warbirds through three quarters, but Wolsey-Wessington outscored the Golden Eagles 16-8 in the final frame for the victory.

"We didn't finish well," Mitchell Christian coach Jesse Tolsma said. "We didn't quite finish the 32 minutes there. We were tired and slow on our rotations, which allowed some baskets and let them get a little bit of momentum and seize the lead in the fourth."

Lynden Williams led the Warbirds (12-5) with 22 points. He finished with 12 points in the second half to help Wolsey-Wessington pull away.

"We did a good job of trying to keep it away from Williams and in the fourth quarter he was able to get going a little bit," Tolsma said.

Brevan Hooks added 11 points for the Warbirds.

Luke Knutson tossed in 14 points for Mitchell Christian, while Alec Nelson finished with 11 points.

"Luke Knutson did a really nice job tonight being aggressive and was able to get going early, which was big for us," Tolsma said.

Alec Nelson added 11 points and five rebounds.

The Golden Eagles host Sanborn Central/Woonsocket on Thursday.

"(SCW forward Noah) Dickson is having a really nice year," Tolsma said. "We will have to be ready to defend well. They have some really nice pieces surrounding him, as well."
