Area basketball roundup: Bon Homme girls nip ACDC

LAKE ANDES—Bon Homme edged Andes Central/Dakota Christian, 39-38, in prep girls basketball play Thursday for its third consecutive win.

Bon Homme (4-8): Kenzie Carson led the scoring with 15 points, while Ciera Himes and Jaden Kortan drained nine points apiece. Himes also grabbed nine boards. The Cavaliers host Gregory on Monday in Tyndall.

Andes Central/Dakota Christian (9-4): Tyra Medicine Horn tallied nine points and five boards, while Mackenzie Muckey finished with eight and Brianna Deurmier scored seven. Muckey tossed in six steals and six assists. The Thunder host Gregory on Tuesday in Lake Andes.

McCook Central/Montrose (11-0): McKenna Kranz led MCM with 15 points, while Morgan Erickson totaled 14. Jacy Pulse finished with seven points and seven rebounds. The Fighting Cougars continue BEC tournament play today.

Sioux Valley (3-9): Abbie Schneider scored eight for the Cossacks, while Perri Liedtke and Reagan Johnson put up four points apiece. Johnson added six rebounds. The Cossacks continue BEC tournament play today.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (9-4): Tesa Jensen led the Blackhawks with 14 points and seven boards, while Megan Poyer chipped in nine points and 10 rebounds. The Blackhawks host Ethan on Monday in Forestburg.

Wessington Springs (3-11): Chasity Vissia and Grace Gran chipped in 11 points and four rebounds apiece in the loss. The Spartans play Wolsey-Wessington on Saturday in Wolsey.

Boyd County (10-6): Emma Stahlecker scored 16 points to lead Boyd County. The Spartans play North Central on Tuesday in Bassett, Nebraska.

Burke (6-8): Taylee Indahl notched 13 points for the Cougars. Sally Hakin and Lacey Person tallied seven points apiece and Lahna Matucha pulled down 10 boards in the loss. The Cougars host Tripp-Delmont/Armour today.

COLOME—Caelyn Valandra-Prue led White River to victory over Colome in girls basketball action Thursday.

White River (11-4): Valandra-Prue dropped 35 points in the big win, while Kaylee Wells tallied 19 points and seven boards. Remedy Morrison scored 14 points for the Tigers. The Tigers travel to Lower Brule on Tuesday.

Colome (4-8): Cheyenne Dougherty scored eight points for Colome, while Rayne Hermsen added six points in the loss. The Cowgirls play Platte-Geddes today in Platte.

FREEMAN—Josie Fuhrmann and Emily Miller combined for 24 points to power Freeman over Canistota in girls basketball Thursday.

Freeman (9-2): Fuhrmann scored 12 points with six steals, while Miller notched 12 points and nine boards. Dayna Roth tossed 11 points, five boards and four steals into the win. The Flyers play St. Francis Indian on Saturday in St. Francis.

GREGORY—Gregory used a pair of 20-point scoring efforts to roll past Avon in boys basketball action Thursday.

Gregory (4-9): Tommy Determan poured in 28 points, while Coy Determan dropped 25 points in the win. Grant Thomas, Bryan Eagle Star and Tommy Determan tallied five rebounds apiece. Garret Roeder notched five assists and Coy Determan grabbed three steals. The Gorillas travel to Presho to play Lyman on Tuesday.

Avon (0-11): Ashton Frank totaled nine points and 12 boards for the Pirates, while Kory DeJong hit eight points with five rebounds. Logan Schuurmans scored seven points with seven rebounds in the loss. The Pirates play in Menno on Monday.
