Second half dooms Mitchell Christian girls
NEW HOLLAND—The Mitchell Christian girls basketball team couldn't muster enough offense to keep pace with Andes Central/Dakota Christian on Thursday.
The Golden Eagles trailed 12-11 after the first against the Thunder, but scored just 10 points the rest of the way in a 45-21 defeat.
The Golden Eagles and Thunder were knotted up 17-17 at halftime, but AC/DC pulled away with a 16-4 third quarter. The Thunder scored 12 points in the fourth, while Mitchell Christian didn't score in the final eight minutes.
AC/DC's Tyra Medicine Horn finished with nine points and six steals. Allison Muckey scored eight points, while Isabel Pheifer had six rebounds and four assists. Mackenzie Muckey added six steals. The Thunder outrebounded the Golden Eagles, 37-19.
For Mitchell Christian, Anna Cooper had 14 points and nine boards. The Golden Eagles committed 24 turnovers, compared to nine by AC/DC.
Mitchell Christian (3-5) plays Oldham-Ramona/Rutland at the Dakota State University Classic on Saturday.
AC/DC (6-2) play Arlington at the Dakota State University Classic on Saturday.
