HURON -- The Mitchell White teener baseball team split a pair of games against Huron on Tuesday.
Mitchell lost Game 1, but a single by Tyler Christensen in the top of the sixth lifted them to a win in Game 2.
In Game 1, Mitchell and Huron each had six hits.
Brennen Penne led the way with two hits while Van Johnson, Jaxson Hartman, Carter McCormick and Christensen each had one. Johnson chipped in with two RBIs as well.
Christensen took the loss in Game 1. He struck out one, but allowed four runs and two hits in 1 ⅔ innings. McCormick pitched three innings, striking out one batter, but allowed four hits and one run.
In Game 2, Mitchell got off to a great start scoring three runs in the first and two in the third, giving them a 5-2 advantage heading into the fourth inning. Huron scored three runs at the bottom of the third to tie the game. Christensen’s single to left field brought home Quinton Wilson and Mitchell was back in the driver's seat. One strikeout by Kenden Skinner, followed by a double play from Skinner to first baseman Hartman and a throw to home ended the game.
Skinner picked up the win for Mitchell as pitched three innings, struck out three batters and didn’t allow a hit nor a run. Dawson Jonnassen also pitched three innings. He struck out one, but allowed five hits and five runs.
