The Mitchell Black teener baseball team lost two straight to Pierre on Tuesday. Post 8 defeated Mitchell 12-10 in Game 1 and 7-5 in Game 2.
In Game 1, Mitchell scored seven runs in the first inning. Mitchell then scored two more runs in the bottom of the third to give them a 9-0 lead. Pierre would respond with a run of its own, scoring 12 runs at the top of the fifth and sixth to give them a 12-9 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. Mitchell scored one run at the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough to recover.
AJ Wilber had three RBIs while Tyler Sanderson had two. Conor Mattke went 3 of 3 and scored two runs while AJ Wilber and Sanderson chipped in with two hits each.
Mason Herman pitched 4 ⅓ innings for Mitchell. He struck out three, but allowed five runs and four hits. Hudson Borgan pitched one inning, struck out one, but allowed seven runs and four hits.
In Game 2, it was a back and forth game. Both teams scored five runs each in the first three innings. Post 8 would then score two runs at the top of the seventh to secure the win.
Herman led Mitchell with two hits. Ben Wilber took the loss in this game pitching 6 ⅔ innings. He struck out one, but allowed nine hits and six runs.
