ALEXANDRIA -- Jordan Gau's walk-off single at the bottom of the 10th gave Alexandria a 3-2 win over Baltic in amateur baseball action on Monday.

Alexandria had a team-high 11 hits. Cole Wenande led the way with four hits, while Jordan Gau and Michael Schoettmer had two hits and one RBI apiece.

Adam Durfee received the win for the Angels pitching four innings. He allowed one hit and struck out six. Ethan Davis pitched four innings and allowed five hits and one run, but struck out six. Jed Schmidt pitched two innings as well. He struck out three batters, but allowed two hits and one run.

For Baltic, Ken Longman pitched 9 ⅓ innings and allowed 11 hits and three runs, while striking out three batters.

Alexandria (14-2) will compete in the District 5 tournament, beginning July 25 in Alexandria.

South Central 9, Wessington Springs 5

GREGORY -- South Central recorded 15 hits in a 9-5 Pony Hills League win over Wessington Springs on Monday.

For the Storm, Jaden Frank went 3 of 5 and scored three runs. Blake Boes had three hits and three RBIs. Aaron Vomacka and Triv Vosika chipped in with two hits apiece.

Jayd Vanderwerff picked up the win for South Central, pitching three innings. He allowed five hits and four runs, but struck out two. Boes pitched six innings and struck out 10.

For Wessington Springs, Isaac Kolousek led the team with two hits and three RBIs. Austin Olson chipped in with two hits and one RBI.

Terrek Butterfield took the loss for the Owls as he pitched two innings, allowed two hits and one run, but struck out four. Trey Weber pitched six innings and allowed 13 hits and eight runs.
