MENNO -- Wynot (Neb.) topped Tabor, 5-1, in the District 6B amateur baseball semifinals on Tuesday.
The Bluebirds were out-hit 12-8 against the Expos. Chase Kortan and Joey Slama each finished with two hits apiece. Brandon Kemp, Beau Rothschadl, Christian Uecker and Sam Caba each had a hit in the loss.
Bryce Scieszinski took the loss for Tabor. He allowed eight hits, two earned runs and struck out three batters in six innings.
Tabor plays Irene on Thursday. Wynot plays the Crofton vs. Menno winner in the District 6B title game on Saturday.
Mount Vernon 9, Corsica/Stickney 5
CORSICA -- Mount Vernon built a 7-0 lead and held off Corsica/Stickney for a District 5B amateur baseball win on Tuesday.
Mount Vernon racked up 14 hits as eight players recorded a hit in the win. Bradley Dean finished with three hits and knocked in a run. Chase Hetland, Deric Denning, Cameron Deinert and Spencer Neugebauer each finished with two hits. Briggs Havlik, Jay Thaler and Luke Tiesler each logged a hit.
Dean also earned the win. He struck out five batters, gave up two hits and zero runs in his five-inning start.
For Corsica/Stickney, Ryan Buck finished with three hits. Logan Risse and Kris Menning posted two hits apiece. Blake Moke, Nathan Blom and Gavin Zomer each had a hit.
Blom took the loss. He gave up 10 hits, seven earned runs and struck out one batter in his 3.1-inning start.
Mount Vernon plays Parkston at 8 p.m. on Thursday, with the winner advancing to state.
