Mitchell Post 18 fell to Brandon Valley, 7-2, in its season finale on Saturday at Cadwell Park.

Mitchell and Brandon Valley each recorded three hits apiece, but Post 18 committed five errors to make life easier for Post 131.

“Their three hits probably go a total of 100 feet,” Post 18 coach Luke Norden said. “One-hundred feet combined on three hits. They had two bunt singles and an infield hit and we let seven runs score. I don’t care who are playing, you are not going to win any baseball games with that.”

Mitchell (21-21) squandered away some early chances to grab some momentum.

“We made them throw quite a few pitches,” Norden said. “We had guys on. We had first and third. We just couldn’t get a hit to score guys.”

Austin Kerr, Hunter Stahle and Brady Hawkins each logged a hit in the loss. Kerr’s RBI double in the third inning scored Peyton Nash, who led off the inning with a walk. Kerr later scored Mitchell’s final run on a wild pitch.

“We put the bat on the ball better than they did and we don’t have anything to show for it,” Norden said. “Because mentally we just weren’t there to play defense and throw strikes.”

Ethan Price took the loss. He finished with four strikeouts, allowed two hits and four runs (two earned) in three innings.

Mitchell will host Brookings in the opening round of the Class A playoffs on Tuesday.
