ALEXANDRIA -- Jordan Gau’s two-out RBI double in the eighth inning proved to be the decisive run, sending Alexandria past Parkston, 1-0, in a Sunshine League pitcher’s duel on Thursday.

Gau finished 3-for-3, as Alexandria recorded five hits. Tyson Gau earned the win on the mound, as he struck out five batters in six scoreless relief innings. Jed Schmidt fanned three batters in a three-inning start.

Dillon Stadlman went the distance for the Mudcats. He struck out four batters. Jared Donahue doubled, while Parkston finished with five hits as a team.

Alexandria (10-2, 8-1 Sunshine League) hosts Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing on Tuesday. Parkston (7-8, 3-6 Sunshine League) hosts Dimock/Emery on Saturday.

South Central 2, Colome 1

COLOME -- Blake Boes’ two-run double in the ninth inning pushed South Central past Colome in Pony Hills League action on Thursday.

Jayd VanDerWerff also doubled for the Storm during his 2-for-3 performance. Paul Taggart struck out four and held Colome to one earned run on 10 hits in a complete game effort. The Storm finished with six hits as a team.

Turner Tinant and Calving Ringing Shield both had two hits for Colome. Tinant also fanned nine batters, as he threw all nine frames.

South Central (6-4, 6-2 Pony Hills) plays Four Corners on Thursday in Gregory.

Colome (4-5, 4-4 Pony Hills) travels to Miller on Thursday.

Plankinton 8, Chamberlain 4

CHAMBERLAIN -- Plankinton scored seven runs in the first three innings to take down Chamberlain in Pony Hills League play on Thursday.

Chris Hill and Jesse Grosdidier each had three hits. Cole Knippling finished 2-for-4, while Josh Engquist added two hits and drove in three runs. Grosdidier and Hill both doubled, as the Bankers recorded 12 hits as a team. Travis Gant picked up the win, fanning seven batters over a six-inning start. He gave up four runs (three earned).

Max Donovan suffered the loss, as he allowed seven earned runs in his 2.1-inning start. Mike Schwartz doubled and finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Plankinton (8-4, 6-2 Pony Hills) hosts Colome on July 12.

Chamberlain (0-7, 0-7 Pony Hills) plays at Kimball/White Lake on Thursday.

KWL 13, Miller 4

MILLER -- Kimball/White Lake took a first-inning lead and never looked back in a Pony Hills League win over Miller on Thursday.

Dylanger Pierson hit a grand slam and drove in five runs for the Nationals. Brian Zeman, Zak Wallner, Trent Wookey and Jordan Hanten all finished with two hits. Zeman earned the win, as he allowed three runs (one earned) over a five-inning start.

Dustin Harvey went the distance for Miller, but gave up 13 runs (seven earned) on 12 hits. He tossed 139 pitches. Jay Winter doubled and had three hits. Juan Sabalier added a pair of hits, while Rafael Clemente and Brant Winter each doubled.

Kimball/White Lake (7-1 Pony Hills) hosts Chamberlain on Thursday.

Miller (1-5 Pony Hills) hosts Colome on Thursday.

Dimock/Emery 16, Menno 6 (8 innings)

EMERY -- Dimock/Emery used 10 hits to push 16 runs across in a non-league amateur baseball win over Menno in eight innings on Thursday.

Calvin Hegg scored on a passed ball to secure the win for the Raptors. Drew Kitchens and Sam Michels each had two hits and three RBIs. Sam Arend and Tyson Kayser both finished with two hits. Kitchens doubled twice, while Arend and Kayser each hit one double. On the mound, Hegg picked up the win, as he struck out seven batters and allowed six runs (two earned) over a six-inning start.

Menno’s Andrew Hora suffered the loss. He allowed six runs (five earned) in three relief innings. Tate Bruckner finished 2 of 2 with three RBIs.

Dimock/Emery (9-8) travels to Parkston on Saturday. Menno (8-5) hosts the Yankton Lakers on Tuesday.
