WHITE LAKE -- Kimball/White Lake plated three runs in the seventh inning to record a 7-5 Pony Hills League amateur baseball victory over Plankinton on Sunday. The Nationals took over sole possession of first place in the Pony Hills League with the win.

After Plankinton’s Chris Hill hammered a solo home run in the sixth inning, Wes Kroupa evened the score in the next inning on an RBI single with two outs. Kroupa and Brian Zeman then scored two runs on a fielding error by Plankinton.

Dylanger Pierson led the Nationals with two hits and a solo home run. Kroupa, Zeman and Trent Wookey each had two hits apiece. Caden Lenz and Ryan Smith each had a hit.

Zak Wallner earned the win. He allowed five earned runs, gave up eight hits and struck out nine batters in his complete-game performance.

For Plankinton, Alex Loes also had a solo home run in his 2 of 5 outing at the plate. Hill and Cole Knippling each had two hits. Trevor Boyd and Josh Engquist each had a hit.

Engquist took the loss. He allowed 11 hits, seven runs (three earned) and struck out three batters in seven innings.

Kimball/White Lake (6-1 South Central) plays at Miller on Thursday. Plankinton (5-2 South Central) plays at Chamberlain on Thursday.

Lennox 3, Canova 2

LENNOX -- Drew Sweeter’s RBI single in the eighth inning pushed Lennox past Canova in Cornbelt League action on Sunday.

Canova’s Tyler Genzlinger finished with two hits. Justin Miller, Trey Krier, Jared Miller and Garrett Gassman each had a hit. Gassman’s two-run double accounted for Canova’s only runs of the game.

Canova (7-2, 4-2 Cornbelt League) hosts Salem on Wednesday. Lennox (6-0 Cornbelt League) hosts Flandreau on Thursday.

Alexandria 9, Platte 0

ALEXANDRIA -- Three Alexandria pitchers combined for a three-hit shutout against Platte in Sunshine League play on Sunday.

Starter Jordan Gau earned the win after allowing two hits and striking out four batters in five innings. Wyatt Kayser and Craig Lasley combined to pitch the next four innings. Kayser struck out one batter, while Lasley struck out two batters and gave up one hit in three innings.

Offensively, Peyton Smith recorded three hits and three RBIs. Tyson Gau added two hits and knocked in two runs. Cole Wenande and Jordan Gau had two hits apiece. Chris Marek, Jerrod Zens and Matt Wilber each had a hit.

For Platte, Richard Sternberg, Ryan Allen and Dusty Ringling each had a hit. Pat Veurink took the loss. He gave up 12 hits, five earned runs and struck out three batters in six innings.

Alexandria (9-2, 7-1 Sunshine League) hosts Parkston on Thursday. Platte (1-5 Sunshine League) plays Corsica/Stickney on Friday in Corsica.

Dimock/Emery 10, Corsica/Stickney 7

CORSICA -- Phil Johnson belted two home runs and struck out seven batters in Dimock/Emery’s Sunshine League amateur baseball victory over Corsica/Stickney on Sunday.

Johnson also gave up four hits and four earned runs. Sam Michels finished with three hits in the win. Drew Kitchens logged two hits, while Doug Sudbeck, Gene Kitchens, Landon Sudbeck and Tucker Kingsbury each had a hit.

Corsica/Stickney’s Luke Bamberg smacked a three-run homer. Kris Menning added a two-run single. Nathan Blom and Jared DeWaard each had a hit. Starter Allen Muilenburg scattered nine hits, allowed seven runs (six earned) and struck out three batters in six innings.

Dimock/Emery (7-8, 4-4 Sunshine League) plays at Lennox on Thursday. Corsica/Stickney (1-7, 0-7 Sunshine League) hosts Platte on Friday in Corsica.

Winner/Colome 7, Parkston 5

PARKSTON -- Winner/Colome edged Parkston in Sunshine League action on Sunday.

Reed Harter and Austin Richey each finished with two hits. Harter and Zach Harter each drove in two runs. Derek Graesser, Dillon Lambley, Chandler Bakley, Sean Kammerer and Austin Calhoon each had a hit.

J.J. Farner earned the win. He gave up nine hits, five runs (two earned) and struck out six batters in the complete-game outing.

For Parkston, Spencer Lucas and Matt Malloy both had two hits. Jeff Harris, Dawson Semmler, Zach Uttecht, Dylan Mogck and Nate Doering each had a hit. Brady Nolz took the loss. He gave up five hits, five runs (four earned) and struck out one batter in three innings.

Winner/Colome (5-1 Sunshine League) hosts Mount Vernon on July 7. Parkston (7-7, 3-5 Sunshine League) plays at Alexandria on Thursday.

Menno 10, Yankton Tappers 8

MENNO -- Dylan Lehr and Adam Walter both belted home runs as Menno handed the Yankton Tappers their first South Central League defeat on Sunday.

Walter smacked a grand slam, while Lehr had a three-run blast. They both finished with two hits apiece, while Macon Oplinger also recorded two hits.

Walter recorded the win for Menno. He gave up three hits and zero runs in two innings of relief.

Menno (7-4 South Central) plays at Wynot, Nebraska, on Tuesday. Yankton (10-1 South Central) plays at Lesterville on Tuesday.

Wynot (Neb.) 16, Tabor 8

WYNOT, Neb. -- Tabor out-hit Wynot, Nebraska, but it was doomed by seven errors in a South Central League amateur baseball game on Sunday.

The Blue Birds finished with 12 hits, while the Expos recorded 11 hits. Wynot also recorded seven runs in the fourth inning.

Austin White led Wynot with three hits and one RBI. Chase Kortan added two hits, a solo home run and three RBIs. Beau Rothschadl also produced two hits. Christian Uecker, Prestin White, Chris Sutera, Josh Schmidt and Bryce Scieszinski each had a hit.

Doug Vanecek took the loss. He allowed eight hits, 10 runs (four earned) and struck out four batters in three innings.

Tabor (10-2, 10-2 South Central) plays at Lesterville on July 3. Wynot (3-6 South Central) hosts Menno on Tuesday.

Salem 4, Hartford/Humboldt 0

HUMBOLDT -- Tyler Earls posted seven strikeouts as Salem blanked Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks on Sunday in Cornbelt League action.

Earls pitched 8 2/3 innings of relief, gave up five hits and zero runs. Cole Cheeseman paced Salem’s offense with two hits and an RBI. David Novak, Steven Mehlbrech, Kyle Tuschen, Isaac Anderson and Tyler Cleveland each had a hit. Tuschen drove in two runs.

Salem (3-7-1) plays the Dell Rapids Mudcats on Tuesday in Dell Rapids.

Dimock/Emery 14, Wynot (Neb.) 13 (11 innings)

EMERY -- Sam Michels hit a walk-off single in the 11th inning to lift Dimock/Emery to an amateur baseball victory over Wynot (Neb.) on Saturday.

The Raptors plated six runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to force extra innings. Dimock/Emery finished with 17 hits, while Wynot added 12 in the slugfest.

Michels and Cade Schmitt both hit home runs for the Raptors. Michels finished 3 of 5 and drove in four runs, while Gene Kitchens went 2 of 4 and knocked in four runs. Tyson Kayser also recorded three hits. Landon Sudbeck, Colton Plagmann and Sam Pischke each logged two hits. Drew Kitchens and Doug Sudbeck each added a hit.

Cameron Kerkhove started the first five innings for the Raptors. He scattered nine hits, allowed six earned runs and struck out one batter. Ben Wermers came on in relief for the final six innings and allowed three hits, three runs and struck out two batters.

Dimock/Emery (6-8) plays Corsica/Stickney on Sunday.
