EMERY -- Dimock-Emery finished with 11 hits in an 18-8, five-inning win over Plankinton in a non-league amateur baseball game on Thursday.

Drew Kitchens powered the Raptors with 3 hits (two doubles) and three RBIs. Ben Wermers, Carter Dye, Landon Sudbeck, Steve Ernster, Doug Sudbeck, Colton Plagmann, Calvin Hegg and Tyson Kayser each had a hit. Wermers drove in three runs, while Sudbeck knocked in two runs.

Trent Kingsbury picked up the win, allowing with three hits, one earned run and striking out three batters in 2 1/3 innings of relief.

For Plankinton, Cole Knippling smacked a two-run homer. Alex Loes finished with three hits and Trevor Boyd had two hits. Chris Hill, Orric Earl and Kyle Bruinsma finished with a hit apiece. Travis Gant pitched the first three innings, scattering five hits, allowing six runs (two earned) and striking out two batters. Tom Harris was tagged with the loss after giving up five earned runs in 2/3 innings.

Dimock-Emery (2-3) hosts Parkston on Sunday in Sunshine League action. Plankinton (0-1) plays at Four Corners on Sunday in Pony Hills League action.

Alexandria 7, Platte 0

PLATTE -- Ethan Davis and Craig Lasley combined for a four-hit shutout as Alexandria blanked Platte in Sunshine League action on Thursday.

Davis mowed down 10 batters and gave up four hits through seven innings. Lasley struck out two batters and allowed no hits in two innings of relief.

Offensively, Tyson Gau cracked a two-run homer to ignite Alexandria’s offense in the first inning. Gau finished 4 of 4 and drove in three runs. Jerrod Zens recorded three hits in four plate appearances and drove in a run. Jordan Gau had two hits and an RBI. Peyton Smith, Matt Wilber and Aaron Wenande each had a hit.

Richard Sternberg logged two of Platte’s four hits. Hunter Hewitt and Tait Subbel each recorded a hit. Derek Soukup took the loss, allowing two hits and two earned runs through the first two innings.

Alexandria (2-0, 1-0) plays at Mount Vernon on Sunday in Sunshine League action. Platte (1-1, 0-1) hosts Winner/Colome on Sunday in Sunshine League play.

Winner/Colome 12, South Central 2 (7 innings)

WINNER -- Reed Harter, Derek Graesser and Austin Calhoon each drove in two runs apiece, while Calhoon struck out seven batters to power Winner/Colome in amateur baseball action on Thursday.

Calhoon gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) in five innings to earn the win. Harter finished 3 of 3 at the plate, including two doubles. Zach Harter finished with two hits and knocked in a run. Lakin Neugebauer, Austin Richey and Tyler Torres each had a hit.

J.J. Farner pitched two innings of relief, giving up three hits and striking out three batters.

For the Storm, Paul Taggart, J.J. Beck, Aaron Vomacka, Blake Hoffman, Andy McCance and Jon Bakke each had a hit. Grant Thomas took the loss, giving up five hits and four earned runs in three innings.

Winner/Colome (1-0) plays at Platte on Sunday to open Sunshine League play. South Central (0-2) hosts Kimball/White Lake to start Pony Hills League action on Sunday.
