LENNOX-Alexandria Post 41 dug itself into an early hole in the first game of a doubleheader against Lennox Post 174 on Monday and then could not close out the second.
Lennox scored 10 runs in the first two innings en route to an 11-5 Game 1 win over Alexandria, and while the Angels opened up a big lead in Game 2, they couldn't hold off Lennox in an 8-7 walk-off loss.
Alexandria scored the first four runs of Game 2, but the lead evaporated when Lennox scored six runs in the fourth to capture the lead. Undeterred, the Angeles rebounded to score three in the ensuing inning, only for Lennox to win on an RBI single by Mason Miller.
Reggie Slaba was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Craig Lasley also drove in a pair of runs from Alexandria.
Blake Klinkhammer allowed four runs (all unearned) on one hit in 3 1/3 innings and Trey Christensen gave up four earned runs on four hits in 1 1/3 innings.
In Game 1, the Angels walked the first three batters and five total in the first frame, along with three singles and two errors as part of a seven-run inning.
Logan Klaudt and Jonah Hofer finally got Alexandria on the board with RBIs in the fourth. Klaudt had two RBIs in the game.
Carter Dye took the loss on the mound after allowing four earned runs (along with four unearned) on three hits and six walks in one inning of work. Klaudt surrendered two earned runs on six hits in three frames.
Alexandria (1-5) travels to Aurora for a doubleheader on Friday.
