WESSINGTON SPRINGS-A trio of doubles highlighted Wessington Springs' six-run sixth inning as it topped Miller, 11-1, in seven innings on Friday in a Pony Hills League game.

Oscar Luque, Trey Weber and Angel Perez all had two hits for the Owls, who finished with 14 hits. Perez and Landon Oschner both drove in a pair of runs, too. Weber struck out seven in a complete-game effort to earn the win. He allowed an earned run on seven hits and three walks.

For the Outlaws, Bennett White took the loss, giving up four runs (two earned). Chipper Shillingstad, Kyle Johnson and Jim White all finished with two hits, as well.

Wessington Springs travels to Plankinton on Sunday.

Mount Vernon 4, Corsica/Stickney 3

CORSICA-Despite 19 hits between Mount Vernon and Corsica/Stickney, runs were hard to come by. The Mustangs were able to plate just enough on 10 hits to top the Horned Frogs in a Sunshine League game.

Briggs Havlik went 3-for-4 and Chase Hetland added two hits and two RBIs for the Mustangs. Deric Denning struck out 10 batters in five innings of relief, allowing two unearned runs to earn the win. Havlik whiffed three batters in his four-inning start.

Aaron Groeneweg conceded four earned runs in six innings as he suffered the loss. Logan Risse went 2-for-4 and drove in a run for the Horned Frogs. Steven Bloom also added two hits.

Mount Vernon (6-0) hosts Alexandria on Sunday. Corsica/Stickney hosts Parkston on Sunday in Corsica.

Thursday's games

Colome 8, Chamberlain 7 (11 innings)

COLOME-Once on the verge of defeat in the bottom of the ninth inning, Colome battled back to defeat Chamberlain on a walk-off single by Jacob Beckers in the 11th inning in Pony Hills League play.

The Chaos trailed 5-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth, but tied the game three consecutive singles by Dave Baker, Josh Herman and Andrew Laprath. Chamberlain would take a 7-5 lead in the 10th on a pair of errors, but Colome tied it once again on RBIs by Ethan Vobr and Kory Foss.

Herman went 3-for-5, while Foss was 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Jake Luse allowed four earned runs (three unearned) in 10 innings, while striking out 18. Vobr picked up the win after fanning two in one inning.

Cole Hickey was 3-for-6 with three RBIs, while Colton Anderson went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Mike Schwartz went the distance on the mound giving up two earned runs (six unearned) on 15 hits and struck out 14.

Colome (1-2) hosts Miller on Sunday. Chamberlain hosts Kimball/White Lake on Sunday.
