Mitchell White couldn't find its groove in a doubleheader loss to Sioux Falls East on Tuesday in teener baseball action at Drake Field.

Sioux Falls exploded for eight runs in the third inning of Game 1 to top Mitchell 17-1. In Game 2, Mitchell fell behind 5-0 in the first inning and couldn't recover in a 13-2 loss to fall to 1-3 on the season.

Mitchell scored the first run in Game 1 on an RBI single by Lincoln Bates in the bottom of the first inning, but Sioux Falls recovered when five of the first six batters walked in the third. Sioux Falls added back-to-back singles and Mitchell committed three errors in the difference-making frame.

Bates went 2-for-2 in the game, while Connor Degen took the loss on the mound despite not allowing a hit in 2 1/3 innings. Degen gave up four runs on five walks.

The second game saw Sioux Falls race out to a 7-0 lead in the first two innings, amassing six of its 14 hits to deal Mitchell an early blow.

Brok Ellwein drove in both of Mitchell's runs, first on an RBI double in the third and then on an RBI single in the fifth. Bates and Ellwein both finished 2-for-3 in the game.

Mitchell competes in a teener tournament on Friday and Saturday at Cadwell Park.
