YANKTON -- Tabor’s five-run fifth inning paved the way for its 12-3 Legion baseball win over Crofton (Neb.) on Saturday in five innings in the Kyle Mueller Memorial Classic.

Tanner Van Driel went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and also earned the win by striking out seven and allowing three runs (one earned) in a complete game effort. Christian Uecker drove in four runs, while Beau Rothschadl also added two hits and two RBIs. Post 183 recorded nine hits as a team.

Tabor 4, Vermillion 3

YANKTON -- Tabor scored four unanswered runs to end the game in a Legion baseball victory over Vermillion on Saturday in the Kyle Mueller Memorial Classic..

Joey Slama had two of Post 183’s seven hits. John Kubal went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. On the mound, Trent Herrboldt gave Tabor a 6 1/3-inning start, allowing three unearned runs and striking out four to earn the win. Uecker struck out the only two batters he faced to earn the save.

Tabor (2-1) plays Creighton (Neb.) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Tyndall.

Yankton 10, Chamberlain 9

YANKTON -- After allowing six runs in the sixth inning, Chamberlain’s seventh-inning rally fell short on Saturday in a Legion baseball loss to Yankton in the Kyle Mueller Memorial Classic.

The Cubs managed 10 hits, including a 3-for-4 day from Riggs Priebe. Carter Collins, Remington Rossow and Dakota Munger all had two hits, as well, while Rossow and Munger both drove in a pair of runs.

Gavin Saxton suffered the loss, allowing four earned runs without recording an out. Jake Mutzinger had a 5 1/3-inning start, giving up six earned runs and striking out four batters.

Hartington (Neb.) 11, Chamberlain 10

YANKTON -- On Saturday in the Kyle Mueller Memorial Classic, Hartington (Neb.) scored four runs in the final two innings to get past Chamberlain in Legion baseball action.

Priebe and Rossow both had three hits, while Mutzinger and Munger both added a pair of hits. Mutzinger also drove in three runs. Priebe recorded two RBIs and suffered the loss as he allowed seven runs (two earned) and struck out two in 2 2/3 innings.

Sam Feilmeier struck out six in 4 1/3 innings to earn the win for Hartington. Seth Wiebelhaus picked up three of its eight hits.

Vermillion 9, Chamberlain 5

YANKTON -- A four-run fourth inning helped Vermillion sneak by Chamberlain on Sunday in Legion baseball action in the Kyle Mueller Memorial Classic.

Mutzinger, Drayton Priebe, Caden Lenz and Collins all had two hits for Chamberlain, while Lenz drove in two. Five of Chamberlain’s 11 hits were doubles, too.

Lenz also started and took the loss, giving up six runs (five earned) in a four-inning start. He also struck out six batters. Gray Peterson earned the win for Vermillion, striking out four in a complete game effort.

Chamberlain (0-4) hosts McCook/Miner at 10 a.m. Friday.

Beresford 8, Alexandria 2

BERESFORD -- The Beresford Legion baseball team scored seven runs in the first two innings to pull ahead of Alexandria en route to a win on Sunday in five innings.

Craig Lasley had two of Alexandria’s three hits. Jonah Hofer and Austin Stoltz both drove in a run, while Stoltz had the team’s third hit. On the mound, Lasley conceded seven runs (four earned) in 1 1/3 innings. Casey Haynes pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, striking out four.

BERESFORD -- Beresford scored the first seven runs in a Legion baseball game against Alexandria, which it won in five innings.

Alexandria was held to four hits as a team. Peyton Schroeder went 2-for-2 and scored one of three runs in the fourth inning.

Hofer suffered the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits in a two-inning start. He also struck out two. Schroeder gave up two earned runs in 1/3 innings, while Blake Klinkhammer tossed 1 2/3 shutout innings.

Alexandria (0-2) travels to Colton at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
