SALEM -- The South Dakota Legion all-star black team shined on Friday during the Legion baseball all-star game, sweeping the doubleheader. It scored six runs in the final two innings of Game 1 to earn an 8-7 win, then took down the red team, 15-1, in the second game.

In Game 1, Mitchell’s Carson Max went 2-for-2 with a double and RBI for the black team, which finished with 12 hits in the win. Jackson Fiegen drove in two runs during his 2-for-4 day, while Trevor Thue recorded two RBIs, as well. On the mound, Mitchell Noem tossed a scoreless seventh frame to earn the win.

Parkston’s Blake Moke allowed the game-winning run during his one inning of relief, though Carter Brickman struck out two in a three-inning start. Carter Gullickson highlighted the red team’s day at the plate with a solo home run.

In Game 2, Max drove in two runs without recording an official at-bat. Ian Krump had the black team’s only three-hit game as it finished with 13 in the win. Tyler Kropeunske struck out four over three shutout innings to earn the win.

Moke allowed three runs (one earned) in a two-inning start for the red team. Meanwhile, Jon Wilhelmsen had one of its two hits and drove in its only run.
